On-location recording of a choir captures a unique experience at that specific venue. Many factors make for an exceptional recording of the event. Microphone type, placement and configurations, tonal shaping and atmospheric enhancement that result in an emotional flavour of the performance and interpretation of such a performance.  I do not have a set formula for the recording event and post-processing. Instead, I tend to respond to the situational factors such as acoustics, venue qualities, and participant participation. The most important factor is always performance.

I record location dialogue, foley, and natural sounds to immerse viewers in a visual story. Audio plays a vital role in storytelling, helping to contextualise the visual intent. In everyday life, we hear and see selectively; as an audio professional, I use auditory effects, ambient sounds, and post-processing techniques to create an auditory experience that enhances the visual production. In the final mix, auditory strategies may include controlling loudness, sound placement, and synchronised auditory cues. These elements work together to create atmosphere and believability, supporting the objectives of the visual story. The final mix effectively "glues" all the auditory elements together with the video edit.

Pipe-organ virtuoso Prof. Albert Troskie advised the three-manual Fehrle-en-Roeleveldt organ design. The organ, which includes 2,028 pipes, was severely damaged by adverse weather and restored in 2020 by Archie Devere. The organ was installed in 1975 at the Dutch Reformed Church in Vredefort and was played in this recording by Erna Rademan.

The FAK (Federasie van die Afrikaanse Kultuurvereniginge) established a youth orchestra in 2022, led by conductor Jaco van Staaden. The 26-member orchestra aims to promote the skills and practices of traditional orchestral music among youth.
